UAE culture lights up Karachi at the World Culture Festival

Visitors felt the warmth of Emirati traditions as music, dance and hospitality filled the Arts Council Karachi.

KARACHI:

The Arts Council Karachi came alive with the vibrant cultural colors of the UAE during the ongoing World Culture Festival, as the city celebrated the UAE National Day with a special event. The occasion featured traditional Emirati music, dance performances, and displays of Gulf heritage that captivated visitors.

The event was attended by UAE Consul General Dr. Bakhit Atiq Al-Rumaithi, Sindh’s Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and other senior officials from the UAE Consulate. Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah warmly welcomed all the guests.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of Emirati delicacies, including kahwa, dates tea, sogou, khabeesa, balalit, and makhi, served at stalls set up in the June Elia Lawn. The fragrant aroma of bakhoor filled the venue while performers showcased traditional dances using sticks (assaye), bringing the spirit of Emirati culture to life.

Guests also had the chance to participate in a raffle, with six lucky winners receiving tickets for three UAE and three domestic flights. Both Dr. Al-Rumaithi and Ahmed Shah joined in the dancing, reflecting the joyous atmosphere.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Al-Rumaithi said, “While people in the UAE celebrate, we are thrilled to bring a slice of our culture to Pakistan during this World Culture Festival. The Arts Council has created a wonderful cultural atmosphere in Karachi, fostering friendship between our nations.”

Sindh’s Culture Minister and Arts Council President highlighted the long-standing ties between Pakistan and the UAE, calling the event a model of cross-cultural celebration.
