Ingredients For Urad Laddu

  • 1 cup urad dal (white or black)
  • ¾ cup jaggery (powdered)
  • ¼ cup ghee
  • 2 cardamoms (powdered)
  • 10 cashews (chopped)
  • 10 almonds (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons green rice (optional)

Recipe

  1. First, dry roast the urad dal and green rice (if using) in a pan until the dal changes colour slightly and releases a nutty aroma.
  2. Allow the roasted urad dal to cool, then grind it in a mixer to a rava-like consistency. Separately, grind the jaggery into a fine powder.
  3. Heat the ghee in a pan and switch off the flame. Gradually add the ground urad dal to the ghee and stir well.
  4. Mix in the powdered jaggery and cardamom, then add the chopped cashews and almonds.
  5. Once all the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is still warm, apply a little ghee to your hands and shape the mixture into small balls.
  6. Once the laddus have cooled completely, store them in an airtight container. Your healthy and delicious urad laddu is now ready to enjoy!
