Billy Joel recently recalled the time when he wanted to end his life.

The musician made the shocking confession in the first part of the new documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes. The documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City earlier this week.

Billy Joel has recalled how he attempted suicide and fell into a coma “for days” after having an affair with his friend’s wife when he was in his early twenties.

Reflecting on why he fell victim to depression, he revealed that he had an affair with his friend’s wife when he was in his early twenties, per PEOPLE Magazine.

For those unversed, Billy was in a relationship with Elizabeth Weber Small, the then-wife of Jon Small, his Attila bandmate.

“I felt very, very guilty about it. They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker,” he began.

“I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose which I deserved. Jon was very upset. I was very upset,” the guilty friend explained.

In conclusion, Billy shared he was on the verge of “almost being psychotic” and “in a lot of pain”.
