Kate Hudson gushes over Matthew McConaughey, ‘one of my great loves’

Kate Hudson praises Matthew McConaughey

Kate Hudson seems to be head over heels about his work bond with Matthew McConaughey.

The Running Point actress recently opened up about her deep appreciation for McConaughey, calling their collaborations on How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003) and Fool’s Gold (2008) some of the best experiences of her career.

“There’s just a similar energy that somehow allowed us to be able to really connect on screen and fall in love,” Hudson told Vanity Fair in an interview released on March 11.

“It’s like you have great loves of your life and then, like, as actresses, I think you have great loves in your work. And he’s my one of my great loves, you know?”

That effortless chemistry wasn’t just luck, according to Hudson—it was instant.

“That just is something that happens when you meet and you feel that chemistry. It’s just sort of an energetic thing. And great producers can see that right away. I feel really lucky that I got to experience that with someone as talented and as fun as Matthew.”

Hudson also reflected on what made How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days such a special project, crediting McConaughey for bringing his signature charm to the role.

“Matthew just brought it and he always does,” she said. “And I think without ego and without any of it. He just brings so much amazing energy to everything he does.”

Beyond their undeniable screen presence, Hudson noted that she and McConaughey share a similar outlook on life.

“We’re not afraid to be flirtatious,” she shared, describing their “very similar type of joie de vivre,” or zest for life.

Of course, their playful chemistry stays firmly on set.

In real life, Hudson has been engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa since 2021, with whom she shares daughter Rani, 6. Though, when it comes to wedding plans, Hudson isn’t in any rush to walk down the aisle just yet.
