Jim Carrey pays tribute to ‘Batman Forever’ co-star Val Kilmer

Val Kilmer wore Batman cowl in his final Instagram post five weeks before he death at 65

Jim Carrey remembered late Hollywood legend Val Kilmer, with whom he shared the screen nearly three decades ago.

Following the confirmation of Top Gun star’s death on Tuesday, April 2, Carrey, 63, mourned his Batman Forever co-star’s passing.

“I’m remembering Val Kilmer today with great admiration for him as a man and as a generational talent who left us an enviable legacy of indelible acting performances,” The Mask star said in a heartfelt tribute he shared with Entertainment Weekly.

“He is greatest asrticit achievements were rivaled only by the grace and courage with which he endured his life’s most challenging moments,” the Dumb and Dumber actor honoured the Heat actor in a statement on Wednesday. “Wishing his family so much love.”

For the 1995 box office hit, the black cape and cowl was passed down to Kilmer from Micheal Keaton, who played Batman./ Bruce Wayne in the first two films directed by Tim Burton: Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992)

Later, Geroge Clooney succeeded the deceased actor in the role of Batman for Batman & Robin (1997), donning the coveted bat suit.

Notably, the actor, known for his role in Jim Morrisons’s biopic The Doors, never reprised his role as the iconic Batman but he sported a modified Batman cowl in his final Instagram post five weeks before he breathed his last. Kilmer died due to Pneumonia at the age of 65.
