Key Features of PM Awas Yojana
- Two Components:
- PMAY-Urban (PMAY-U): For urban areas.
- PMAY-Gramin (PMAY-G): For rural areas.
- Interest Subsidy:
- Beneficiaries can avail interest subsidy of up to 6.5% on home loans under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) for a loan tenure of up to 20 years.
- Subsidy Based on Income Group:
- EWS (Economically Weaker Section): Annual income up to Rs 3 lakh.
- LIG (Low Income Group): Rs 3 lakh – Rs 6 lakh.
- MIG-I (Middle Income Group I): Rs 6 lakh – Rs 12 lakh.
- MIG-II (Middle Income Group II): Rs 12 lakh – Rs 18 lakh.
- Subsidy Amount:
- Up to Rs 2.67 lakh for eligible families under CLSS.
- Ownership Priority:
- Preference is given to women ownership or joint ownership with women.
- Priority to senior citizens, differently-abled, SC/ST and minorities in allotment.
- Construction Features:
- Houses built under PMAY come with basic amenities like sanitation, water supply, electricity, and a kitchen.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for PMAY, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must be a first-time homeowner (no pucca house in any part of India).
- Must belong to EWS, LIG, or MIG category.
- Family must consist of husband, wife, and unmarried children.
- Applicant or family should not have availed benefits from any other housing scheme.
- For PMAY-U, the beneficiary must be residing in an urban area or be part of the urban poor.
- For PMAY-G, the applicant must belong to rural areas and be homeless or living in dilapidated houses.
How to Apply for PM Awas Yojana Online (PMAY-U):
- Visit the official website: https://pmaymis.gov.in
- Click on “Citizen Assessment” under the menu.
- Fill in Aadhaar number and personal details.
- Submit the form and save the application/reference number for future use.
Offline Application:
- Visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or municipal office.
- Fill in the required form and attach necessary documents like Aadhaar card, income certificate, address proof, etc.
- Submit the form along with a nominal fee (around Rs 25).
PMAY-G Application:
For rural applicants, application and beneficiary selection are typically conducted through Gram Sabhas based on Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data.
How to Check PMAY Allotment Status
- To check the status of your PMAY application:
- Go to the official portal: https://pmaymis.gov.in
- Click on “Track Your Assessment Status” under Citizen Assessment.
- Enter your Assessment ID and Mobile Number or use name and other personal details.
- The status of your application or allotment will be displayed.
For PMAY-G, visit https://pmayg.nic.in and use the ‘Stakeholders’ → ‘IAY/PMAYG Beneficiary’ section to search using registration number.
